Costa wants to bid Pay-TV if Bill 29 approval delays

The Brazilian Minister of Communications, Hélio Costa, stated there is enough understanding for the National Congress to pass Bill 29 definetly, thus enabling the entrance of telecommunications companies into the Pay-TV market. However, the official pointed out that in case such approval is not achieved, the National Telecommunications Agency would actually open a bid for Pay-TV licenses.

DirecTV's 10% of regional users are pre-paid clients

The DTH operator DirecTV's Latin American pre-paid subscriptions reached a 10% of its base in 2009, which accounted for 459,000 subscribers taking into account that the company closed 2009 with 4,59 million clients (excluding Sky Mexico). In 2008, pre-paid accounted for the 8% of the total base and just a 4% in 2007, the year the service was launched.
