Peru will broadcast ISDB as from March

ISDB launching in Peru will take place on March 30th through the free-to-air national channel TV Peru (Channel 7). At the beginning the signal will be available in Lima and Callao. Sony Panasonic, NEC, Toshiba, Samsung, LG and some Japanese manufacturers will provide the first Japanese standard TV sets that will be available in February.
According to the Vice Minister of Communications, Jorge Cuba, ATV (Channel 9) will broadcast the South African Soccer World Cup 2010, while Frecuencia Latina (Channel 2) will broascast the Volley Ball World Cup to be held halfway through 2010. Finally, according to the local paper El Comercio, América TV (Channel 4) will broadcast the program "Al fondo hay sitio".
Set-top-boxes will be sold at USD30 and USD45. "The difference will depend on the origin. There will be Japanese, Brazilian and Chinese STBs. The Brazilian one is the favorite because it adapts the new signal to old TV sets", Cuba stated. One Seg cell phones will also be sold at USD300 to USD600.
